Rachael Beck joins the cast of CLUB VEGAS THE SPECTACLE!

Brace yourself for a week of unparalleled entertainment as CLUB VEGAS The Spectacle makes its triumphant return to the Athenaeum theatre from Wednesday, 29th May 2024. This spellbinding production, celebrated for its show-stopping performances and extravagant visuals, promises to transport Melbourne audiences to the enchanting world of Las Vegas with an alluring modern flair. Joining the stellar cast is none other than Australian theatre legend, Rachael Beck.

Rachael Beck

From her early days on Home and Away and Hey Dad to lead roles in musicals like The Sound of Music and Beauty and The Beast alongside Hugh Jackman, Beck has left an indelible mark on the Australian entertainment scene. She expressed her excitement about joining the production, exclaiming that she is “totally delighted to be part of this spectacular show that highlights all the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas!”

At the helm of this glittering extravaganza is Artistic Director Adam Bahoudian, whose creative vision, combined with the Helpmann Award-nominated talents of Costume Designer Nina Randall Bahoudian, has produced a show that seamlessly blends nostalgia with contemporary entertainment. The duo has meticulously curated a spectacle that pays homage to the glamour and opulence of the iconic Las Vegas Glitter Strip.

Executive Producer and Costume Designer, Nina expressed her excitement about working with Beck, stating, “We are incredibly excited to be working with Australia’s stage and screen sweetheart Rachel Beck!” She also shed light on the elaborate costumes of the show, and how each piece, adorned with Swarovski crystals and meticulously dyed feathers, reflects the grandeur of Las Vegas showgirl costumes from a bygone era. “Most of the vintage costume sets in Club Vegas hold very fond memories from a bygone era which date back to the sensational years of the grand and extravagant multi-million-dollar stage spectacles at Jupiters Casino Gold Coast [now The Star]. You’ll never see anything like this again made for the stage, it is the end of an era, as it was a time when casinos spent millions of dollars for the sake of fantasy, beauty, glamour, elegance, extravagance and audience experiences” she said.

Beck, who recently toured Australia as one of the Disney Princesses, shared her anticipation about performing in Melbourne. “I love Melbourne and Melbourne audiences; they are like no other,” she remarked. “I never thought I would be asked to be a part of a Vegas show – I am excited to put on the sequins, dance, and be a part of the big glitzy numbers.”

CLUB VEGAS The Spectacle is not merely a display of musical prowess; it’s a visual feast that stimulates the senses. The dynamic cast of 22 Australian performers, led by the charismatic James Liotta as Gino Starr, promises a night of laughter, dance, and awe-inspiring acts. From breathtaking aerialists to stunning dancers, the production showcases the diverse talents of its ensemble. The soundtrack of the show, featuring an array of hits from Ricky Martin to Ed Sheeran, weaves a musical tapestry that spans the decades. The fusion of 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s music creates a nostalgic yet contemporary atmosphere that invites audiences to immerse themselves in the vibrant energy of CLUB VEGAS.

When asked about the most challenging part of the production, Beck humorously replied, “Deciding which numbers to sing!” Describing the show in five words, she summarised it as “Glamorous, exciting, thrilling, sparkly, entertaining.”

As CLUB VEGAS The Spectacle returns to Melbourne, it invites audiences to indulge in a night of escapism, surrounded by the glamour and allure of Las Vegas. Whether you’re a seasoned theatre enthusiast or someone seeking an evening of dazzling entertainment, this production promises an unforgettable experience that transcends time and captivates the heart. Join the spectacle, and let the lights of CLUB VEGAS shine bright in the heart of Melbourne.
