Elvis: A Musical Revolution – Media Call Sneak Peek

Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming production, ‘Elvis: A Musical Revolution,’ a presentation of David Venn Enterprises (DVE), an Australian-based entertainment and events company renowned for delivering first-class live experiences.

DVE’s history is studded with critically acclaimed productions. In the past, they successfully toured the professional Australian premiere of ‘Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical’ to capital cities across the country. The ‘Wedding Singer,’ another feather in DVE’s cap, won six Green Room awards including Best Production during its 2020-22 run. The 2018 tour of ‘Bring It On! The Musical’ bagged a Green Room award for Best Choreography. DVE’s notable credentials also include their role as a live entertainment producer for The Australian Open, and the professional premiere of the off-Broadway musical ’50 Shades! The Musical Parody’.

In their latest venture, they present an intricate and heartfelt exploration of the extraordinary life of Elvis Presley, the award-winning cultural icon and rock ‘n’ roll superstar. From the highly sought-after international writers to the stellar cast, this bio-musical promises to captivate audiences with its narrative and musical charm.

Our exclusive sneak peek showed us the charismatic Rob Mallett, embodying the energy and aura of Elvis himself. Selected from over 700 applicants nationwide, Mallett’s passion and dedication to his craft are evident. With an impressive background in theatre and Australian television programmes, Mallett is poised to mesmerise audiences with his portrayal of the King.

The photos from the media call give a vivid sense of the spectacular production design, capturing the spirit of Elvis’ life journey, from his childhood to his triumphant ’68 Comeback Special.

The Australian premiere is set to open at Sydney’s State Theatre from 5 August and promises to be a night to remember. With the demand for tickets soaring, new performance dates have just been released for both cities.

Director Alister Smith promises an all-out spectacle with over 40 of Elvis’ most loved songs performed by a top-tier Australian cast. He hopes the production will enable audiences to understand ‘the man behind the myth’ and the journey of a boy from humble beginnings to the greatest icon of all time.

‘Elvis: A Musical Revolution’ is a fitting tribute to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, immersing audiences in the life and legacy of Elvis Presley.
