Gillian Cosgriff packs her bags for outer space and now she’s waiting for the right kind of pilot to come…

I’ve been Whelmed by Gillian Cosgriff and heard her “8 Songs in 8 Weeks” and learned ‘This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things’. I missed Waitressing, and Other Things I Do Well but she was my waitress at Script once, so that kind of counts. The other things she does well? Writes hilarious and biting songs, sings beautifully and keeps an audience thoroughly entertained from lights up.

Gillian is afraid of two things right now: space and marriage. She doesn’t really want to get involved with either. To the Moon and Back digs into what makes her so reluctant to ever want to travel in space (people die there) or get married (sometimes you eat eggs every day for a year and sometimes you want to put something else in your mouth).

There are songs about global warming and yoga and rants about click bait and… well, you won’t believe what happens next! But unlike her previous shows, which bounced around from place to place, this new show is very focused on space and marriage and how the two are unknowable unless you commit to them. Her boyfriend Matt thinks the show is about Gillian trying to decide if she’s going to marry him. It’s a little bit that and a little bit a tribute to Savage Garden.

Gillian Cosgriff’s new show thinks about ungoogleable questions and answers them in song. To the Moon and Back is her best show yet.
