You Can Take The Girl Out Of The Country…

In the intimate surrounds of the Pink Piano cabaret room, we were treated to an hour with Bex Grennan in her cabaret Half Full. Bex shared with us, the journey of a 20-something girl who got to live the dream on that roller-coaster ride called ShowBiz, and is back in BrisVegas to tell the tale.

Having worked overseas on crusie ships and Universal Studios Japan, she also toured in several music theatre productions in Australia including, sharing the stage with Hugh Jackman in Boy From Oz.

Her cabaret Half Full looks at the positive in life; as she showed us how even stalking can be a positive experience if you score a fiancé out of it (and perhaps the best song of the night).

The musical numbers were an eclectic mix to suit all musical tastes, with a little bit of folk-pop by Kate Miller-Heidke, 80’s flashbacks, a show tune or two for good measure, and even a great original number which deserves air-play.

A great voice with a good mix of songs and a well-put together show resulted in an enjoyable evening. And if you haven’t soaked up the relaxed atmosphere of the Pink Piano before, I recommend it for a unique experience you won’t find in many bars.

Bex performed Half Full as part of the Brisbane Cabaret Festival at the Pink Piano for two nights only on the 1st and 8th November.
