An Evening with Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith certainly gives you your monies worth.

AN EVENING WITH KEVIN SMITH  Sydney Opera House Sunday August 8th , 2010
Kevin Smith certainly gives you your monies worth. Boy can that man talk. We heard about everything from COP OUT, CHASING AMY, ZACK AND MIRI, to George Carlin and Kevin’s lovely, skinny wife Jen.  There was stuff about Ben Affleck and more stuff about Ben Affleck, news on his next feature Red State and his ultimate hockey film HIT SOMEBODY which is based on a song from author nod journalist Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie) and may or may not star Sean William-Scott. We were also treated to a step-by-step guide to A** to Mouth as well as mention of the infamous Donkey scene, inspired in part by THE GODFATHER.  There was talk of him almost being arrested for an apparent hostage situation taking place in his home, and the total belief that he was single-handedly responsible for ruining Seth Rogen’s career triggered his decision to become a full-time “stoner”. The intense anxiety he felt waiting for the numbers to come in after ZACK AND MIRI opened only to find it did as barely as good as CHASING AMY. The fact that although he’s fat and practically Tweets for a living, he still doesn’t have to worry about money as Harvey and Bob set him up for life.   Kevin Smith doesn’t see himself as a director, film-maker, comedian or actor… purely a writer it seems … and even though he can now handle Bruce Willis on set, COP OUT was the only film his father would be proud of. F**k can he swear… and whatnot!!
