SUMMARY:Dogfight
DESCRIPTION:From the producers of Sydney’s sold out season of HEATHERS: The Musical\, comes DOGFIGHT! \nIn 1967\, Eddie Birdlace returns to San Francisco after serving in the Vietnam War and almost instantly\, his memories of his last night there come flooding back. We find ourselves in 1963. Eddie and his best friends Boland and Bernstein (The Three Bees) decide to spend their last night before deployment in a “dogfight”: a misogynistic and awful game to bring the “ugliest” date to a party. While the Marine’s jump into the cruel contest\, Eddie finds Rose Fenny\, a shy waitress who has never been on a date and has a change of heart. She learns about the dogfight\, but is determined to not let it define her as an ugly and pathetic girl\, and her optimism has a profound effect on Eddie’s worldview. Dogfight is a statement about the military culture of the 1960s and the inevitable realisation that no one is invincible. But even with this knowledge\, it is possible for each person to have a profound and positive impact on the world around them. \nThis reimagined production of Dogfight will have these Marine’s being played at their own game\, giving the power back to these women and showing that strength and being true to yourself outweighs any man’s petty view on a woman. \nWith an all-star cast including Adam Noviello\, Sascha Wykes\, Tom Davis\, Sam Welsh and featuring Daniel Raso as the Lounge Singer\, this Sydney exclusive show is not to be missed. This season of Dogfight is strictly limited and will sell out\, so buy your tickets today! \n*** \nMusic and Lyrics by BENJ PASEK & JUSTIN PAUL. Book by PETER DUCHAN. Based on the Warner Bros. film and screenplay by Bob Comfort. Produced by Second Stage Theatre\, New York\, 2012. Carole Rothman\, Artistic Director. Orchestrations by Michael Starobin. Licensed exclusively by Music Theatre International (Australasia). \n \n
