Lady Sings it Better.
It’s comedy season, with Melbourne’s festival wrapping up and Sydney’s kicking into full swing. What better thing for our Sunday afternoon refreshment, then, than great voices and some humour?
Enter Lady Sings it Better, Sydney’s beloved cheeky feminist cabaret combo. They’re performing two shows at the Factory during the Sydney Comedy Festival, and what they do is exciting on a lot of levels.
It’s cabaret with a twist of realness when the ladies take songs from the world’s most popular musicians and reinvent them as their own, shining a new light on their lyrics.
After catching their show last year, I wrote that with “clever arrangements and beautiful (and beautifully devilish) voices, the group takes you on a tour of pop music with a twinkle in the eye and a cluck of the tongue,” and you can feel all of that in the below video, where the Wiggles meet Jason Derulo by way of doo-wop. No, seriously.
You’re going to love this one. Happy Sunday!
