Xanadu The Musical is set to assist those who have been impacted by the Queensland floods with a special charity performance.

The musical opens in Australia this March so pull out the leg warmers, neon and even your roller skates and get set to return to the 80’s.

This hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure is about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you.  The production comes to Australia after taking Broadway by storm, where it was nominated for the prestigious 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Xanadu will officially open in Melbourne on March 3, 2011 for a strictly limited season, before moving onto Sydney in May and Brisbane in August, followed by the other major capital cities.

Based on the Universal Pictures’ cult classic movie which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, Xanadu rolls along to the chart topping tunes including ‘Magic’, ‘Party All Over the World’, ‘Suddenly’, ‘I’m Alive’, ‘Xanadu’ and many others.

The show will be staged in the purpose-built Grand Xanadu Marquee which forms the centerpiece of XanaduLand – a multi-million dollar, 80s themed one-stop entertainment complex, never before seen in Australia.

Performed in one 90 minute, interval-free performance, visitors are then encouraged to stay on afterwards for a drink and to be entertained by Australia’s leading 80’s tribute band, Stand and Deliver, as they take to the stage.

Producers have also announced two charity preview performances so you can enjoy the show and help raise funds for two worthy causes at the same time.

All proceeds from the Tuesday March 1st Charity Preview Performance will be donated to the Queensland Flood Appeal, whilst the Olivia Newton-John and Friends Charity Preview will be held on March 2nd 2011.

Tickets to see Xanadu The Musical in Melbourne are now on sale via Ticketet.
