Winners of the Helpmann Award tipping competition

Congratulations to Tom Campbell and Philip Cowen, who took out the inaugural AussieTheatre.com Helpmann Awards Tipping competition.

Congratulations to Tom Campbell and Philip Cowen, who took out the inaugural AussieTheatre.com Helpmann Awards Tipping competition.

The two outright winners beat the field by both correctly selecting 8 out of a possible 11 categories in out competition.

There were some interesting insights gained from our tippers selections. Giving us a clear indication of who the AussieTheatre.com readers thought were going to walk away with the award:

65% correctly tipped Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush to win Best Female and Male Actor in a Play respectively.

Less than 10% Picked Matt Lee to win Best Actor in a Musical with the overwhelming favorite being Anthony Warlow for the title role Dr Zhivago.

John Bell was another crowd favorite with almost 66% expecting him to take home the Best Supporting Actor in a Play.

Other awards that did go to the AussieTheatre.com picks included:

  • Philip Quast – Best Supporting Male Actor in a Musical. 57%
  • Esther Hanaford – Best Supporting Female Actor in a Musical. 55%
  • Eddie Perfect – Best Cabaret Performer. 55%
  • Mary Poppins – Best Musical. 60%
  • Verity Hunt-Ballard – Best Female Actor in a Musical. 52%
