Spangled Aura Productions will be presenting a double bill of original one act plays with The Inner Monologues & Just Say I Do. Running from the 14th to the 21st January, The Inner Monologues explores the concept that people often think and say completely different things, but what are they really thinking? The second play, Just Say I Do is a comedic take on the wedding from hell.
From comedy to drama, Javeenbah Theatre Company in association with Dream Run Theatre Company will present the Pulitzer Prize winning play Doubt by Patrick Shanley from 20th January to 4th February. Doubt is set in the Bronx in 1964 and explores moral uncertainty in a Catholic school. Doubt also won the 2005 New York Drama Critics’ Circle Best Play and 2005 Tony Award fro Best Play.
If you enjoy seeing new works then you’ll want to see Front Row Theatre’s Wilde Life by Anne Grant, Julie Bray and Sue Gough, which won the Best Design award at the Beenleigh Theatre Festival 2011 and Best Design award at the Trans Tasman Theatre Festival 2011. Running from 21st January to 4th February, Wilde Life is about “A Dowager hen, her juvenile charge and a posturing old cock… a study of a species in its habitat – its breeding, management and methods of most un-natural selection.”
Lastly, the Gold Coast Little Theatre will be presenting that great madcap Aussie favourite set in a Melbourne psychiatric institution, Cosi by Louis Nowra from the 28th Jan to 18th February.
