Want to go on a Treasure Hunt?

Get a team together and join the fun as Tantrum presents Treasure Hunt on Sunday, April 3, the second production in our 35th anniversary year.

Get a team together and join the fun as Tantrum presents Treasure Hunt on Sunday, April 3, the second production in our 35th anniversary year.

This is a new performance work that follows on from the success of the inaugural 2010 event and will see teams of audience members search the inner city for clues to a hidden treasure, inviting them to participate in exciting challenges along the way.

In a bold new approach to performance, members of the 15-17 year old Tantrum workshop groups are devising site-related works that are sure to surprise audiences as they explore a variety of locations in Newcastle’s CBD.

Designed as an adventure for families to share, this unique performance experience will extend upon last year’s Treasure Hunt to create a fresher, bigger, bolder event for 2011.

Workshop tutors Rachel Jackett (Tantrum’s Associate Director) and Penelope Kentish are directing the event in collaboration with the students and Penelope said audiences can expect a morning of “outlandish fun.”

Rachel said, “The exciting thing about an event like Treasure Hunt is that it moves performance from a conventional theatre setting and activates our city’s public spaces in a fun and challenging way!”

Tantrum Theatre’s Treasure Hunt will run rain, hail, or shine and participants are encouraged to walk rather than ride bikes or scooters as speed will not necessarily be an advantage in this race.

There will be prizes awarded to the winning team.

WHEN: 10am Sunday 3rd April.
COST: $5 per participant (under 5 year olds free).
PLACE: Somewhere in the Newcastle CBD! Check the Tantrum website in coming weeks. www.tantrumtheatre.org.au
