Waitressing…and other things I do well: Special ticket offer

Award winning performer Gillian Cosgriff is bringing her hilarious one woman show back to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for a limited season.

Award winning performer Gillian Cosgriff is bringing her hilarious one woman show back to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for a limited season.   Waitressing… and other things I do well, Cosgriff’s run away smash hit from the Adelaide Cabaret Festival will be taking off on an Australian tour, starting tomorrow night in Melbourne at Chapel Off Chapel.  Cosgriff is equal parts singer, songwriter, pianist and all-round comic genius and the 2010 WAAPA graduate wears all of these hats in brilliant style. But it wasn’t always so. As a conscientious twenty-something, fresh out of university, with a performing arts degree in hand (it’s only real workplace value being that she could use it to threaten possible employers with a nasty paper cut), no job, no house, and existing on a steady diet of Pringles and vitamin water – Gillian’s calling in life seemed to be… waitressing.   Following every tangent with meticulous precision, this show features a hilarious mixture of original songs and more familiar numbers, as Cosgriff explains in her own inimitable way how she manoeuvred those difficult post-university years.  Luckiest Productions are presenting this highly acclaimed cabaret at Chapel off Chapel in Melbourne from December 14 – 23 at 9pm. The show will transfer to the Visy Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse on February 8 and to the Seymour Centre in Sydney from February 15 2012.  Tickets are normally $35, but AussieTheatre.com readers can purchase tickets online for the Chapel Off Chapel season for just $20 using the codeword ‘luckiest’. In addition to curating three phenomenally successful Adelaide Cabaret Festivals (2009-11), they have produced several national tours for David Campbell, acclaimed Australian work like Britney Spears: The Cabaret, and international tours for artists such as Simply Barbra and Mad Men’s Bryan Batt. WAITRESSING AND OTHER THINGS I DO WELL  Chapel Off Chapel, Prahran, Melbourne December 14th – 23rd Tickets $35 / $30 concFor tickets (03) 8290-7000  www.chapeloffchapel.com.auVisy Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse February 8 – 12, 2012 at 9.30pmTickets: $35 ($30 conc) + bfFor tickets 07 3358 8600 or  brisbanepowerhouse.org
