Tom Burlinson to headline inaugural Cabaret Festival at Slide, Sydney

Tom Burlinson

In one week’s time, Sydney’s most famous cabaret venue will commence its first ever, month-long cabaret festival.

Slide Lounge, located on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst will host it’s inaugural cabaret festival from Monday 6 February – Saturday March 3, 2012 showcasing 23 artists from United States of America, France and Australia.

A legend of the stage and screen, Australia’s own man from Snowy River – Tom Burlinson – will headline the festival in a new and intimate show, premiering on Thursday 16 February. Featuring a live 6 piece band, Burlinson’s latest cabaret is a tribute to the greatest swing masters.

Fillm and TV stars, comedians and cabaret divas feature in the festival lineup boasting Phil Scott (Priscilla, Wharf Revue), Michael Griffiths (Jersey Boys, Adelaide Cabaret Festival), Marney McQueen (Hairspray, Rosa Wax), El Circo, David Raleigh (NYC), Catherine Alcorn (The Divine Miss Bette, Monday Night Live) and Marika Aubrey (The Last Five Years, Redhead) as just some of the names on this extensive program.

Produced and curated by Catherine Alcorn (Creative Producer) and Marc Kuzma, Slide’s cabaret festival will present Sydney with a seasonally diverse selection of theatre, musical theatre and cabaret shows perfectly suited to align with Mardi Gras 2012.

If it’s dinner-and-show affairs you are craving, a two course fine dining + show experience from $70 is available. Show only viewing is available from $25 (yes, you can order cocktails!).

This inaugural Opening Night event is hugely anticipated with limited general public tickets available for $30.00 including a glass of sparkling on arrival thanks to our sponsors at Kissing Bridge Australia.

The festival will conclude with an open door Mardi Gras parade party on Saturday 3rd March.
