The world’s most famous singer/songwriters, John Lennon and Paul
McCartney, have been responsible for some of the finest songs ever
written in music history.
They’ve achieved a countless amount of number one hits around the world and now their highly respected songbook will be turned into an exciting cabaret show.
Australian cabaret stalwarts Melissa Langton, Libby O’Donovan and Mark Jones join forces to star in Get Back – The Lennon & McCartney Songbook.
This multi award-winning trio will take the audience back through the songs that defined a generation with their trademark offbeat humour and brilliant three-part harmonies.
“We are tapping into the songs written by the great John Lennon and Paul McCartney, which produced such a rich and diverse songbook,” said star Mark Jones.
“No song writing partnership has produced such a rich and diverse output of songs than that of Lennon and McCartney, and audiences know the material so well.”
Mark says audiences will love the twist the cast put on some old-time classics.
“I knew we’d be able to do some really interesting things with these songs and we’re looking forward to presenting some brand new arrangements of these old favourites,” he said.
The program will include respectfully treated new versions of ‘I Feel Fine’, ‘Baby You Can Drive My Car’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘Another Day’ and ‘Help’.
“Many of these songs have been completely re-imagined,” Mark said.
Along with Mark Jones, highly versatile and accomplished entertainers in Melissa Langton and Libby O’Donovan will together take the audience on a magical mystery tour through many of Lennon and McCartney’s great songs including the hauntingly beautiful ‘The Long And Winding Road’, ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Hey Jude’, followed by some upbeat swinging tunes like ‘Ticket To Ride’ and ‘All You Need Is Love’.
Get Back – The Lennon & McCartney Songbook will hit the stage at the City Recital Hall Angel Place next Sunday, October 16 at 2pm.
