Tickets selling fast for Beyond Miserables – a charity concert starring the cast of Les Mis

The cast of Les Misérables have sung the songs of love and revolution more than 400 times in this Australian production of the classic show, and they’re still going strong. Currently at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, the cast won’t rest with just storming the barricades: they’re reaching out to lend a hand. The result? A charity concert, with proceeds going to beyondblue.

On Sunday August 23rd, on the set of Les Mis at the Capitol, the cast will stage Beyond Misérables. Conceived and produced entirely by cast members of the the show, these actors aim to bring more attention and funds to the issues of depression, anxiety and suicide in today’s society –particularly within the entertainment industry.

This one-off event will be hosted by Trevor Ashley, your master of the house Thénardier (who is currently pulling double-duty as director of the Australian premiere of Heathers the Musical at the Hayes Theatre). It will be directed by Luke Joslin (Bamatabois and Grantaire in the show). The show’s conductor/musical director Geoff Castles will take on musical director duties of the concert as well.

Beyond Misérables will feature the entire cast of Les Mis. That’s Simon Gleeson (Jean Valjean), Hayden Tee (Javert), Patrice Tipoki (Fantine), Lara Mulcahy (Madame Thénardier), Kerrie Anne Greenland (Éponine), Chris Durling (Enjolras), Euan Doidge (Marius), Emily Langridge (Cosette) and the amazing ensemble cast.

It’s going to be a night of showstoppers from a selection of Broadway’s most celebrated writers (think Boublil and Schönberg, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Alan Menken, Kander and Ebb, Jule Styne.. and more!) And it’s all for a great cause.

beyondblue is a not-for-profit organisation working to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in Australia, raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery and management of these conditions.
