The Production Company announces 2015 season

The Production Company is arguably Melbourne’s most recognised independent music theatre organisation and this morning they have announced a star studded, three-show 2015 season.

Anna O’Byrne will star as Maria in West Side Story

The first show of the season at Arts Centre Melbourne also marks the company’s 50th production overall. West Side Storystarring Gareth Keegan as Tony and internationally renowned artists Anna O’Byrne as Maria will be directed by Gale Edwards. Choreographer Michael Ralph will re-stage Jerome Robbins’ original choreography and Guy Simpson returns to The Production Company as Musical Director. The show will play for 10 shows only from 11-19 July.

The new Gershwin musical comedy Nice Work If You Can Get Itstarring husband and wife team Rohan Browne and Christie Whelan-Browne and theatre darling Esther Hannaford will be the second production of 2015. Director Roger Hodgman and choreographer Dana Jolly will helm this production. Nice Work will play for 10 performances, from 15-23 August.

Concluding the season will be classic musical Jerry’s Girlstackled by the Helpmann Award winning team director Dean Bryant and choreographer Andrew Hallsworth (Sweet Charity, Anything Goes). Jerry’s Girls will star Rhonda Burchmore, Nancy Hayes, Silvie Paladino, Christie Whelan-Browne and Kirby Burgess and will feature musical direction from Matthew Frank. The final show of the season will play for 17 performances from 21 November – 6 December.
