The Channel announces the latest PLAY program, including Melbourne International Jazz Festival workshops and panels

New workshops, panels and master classes have been added to Arts Centre Melbourne’s public arts knowledge sharing program, PLAY, dedicated to providing educational and participatory arts experiences for emerging artists and lifelong learners.

The newly announced events are open to the public from September to December, and will be hosted at The Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne’s flexible multi-use space that includes a high-tech learning lab, intimate performance space and recording studio.

The program includes a variety of events that speak to a broad range of interests and skillsets, including the opportunity to learn and engage with some of the world’s leading jazz artists as they visit Melbourne for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

The program also features some exciting collaborative projects including:

Digital Arts Maker Space with Arts Access Victoria where young Deaf and Disabled artists learn new digital skills as well as Music Industry Masterclasses with The Push for those wishing to pursue a career in music. The Boite at The Channel presents a series of intimate performances and insightful discussions looking beyond classic Western musical tradition and Script Roulette is a collaborative podcast space for up and coming storytellers to write and have their work produced.

The PLAY program launched earlier this year and has provided the public the opportunity to create creative connections via The Channel’s high-calibre facilities. Nurturing, collaborative spaces are essential to sustain the future of the arts in Australia and The Channel team are committed to the next wave of creatives looking to grow, write new stories and share fresh voices and perspectives.
