The Brolly Follies – Mary Poppins cast present a cabaret event in Brisbane

The Brolly FolliesMembers of the Australian production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins, currently playing in Brisbane, will hang up their sweep brushes and kite strings and take to the stage for one night only next month in a very special night of cabaret.

The Brolly Follies – an uplifting night of song and dance – will take place at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts on Monday March 5. Doors will open at 7:30pm for an 8pm performance and seating is unreserved.

Produced by Erin Kennedy, Liam MacIlwain and Michael Lindner – all members of the Mary Poppins ensemble cast – this cabaret event is sure to send your spirits soaring!

“We are putting on Brolly Follies to give the whole cast a chance to get creative and perform some new songs and choreography”, said Co-producer of the event, Erin Kennedy.

“We’re also excited to really showcase the individual talent we have in the show, particularly in the ensemble. Its a nice opportunity for us to shine!”

Featuring Australia’s Mary Poppins herself, Verity Hunt-Ballard, and Queensland’s own Sarah Bakker, Angelique Cassimatis, Liam McIlwain and Jennifer Peers as well as other leading, ensemble and orchestral players from this multi-talented and award winning company, The Brolly Follies will be raising funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation to help brighten the lives of seriously ill children.

“We chose the Starlight Foundation because its a wonderful charity that we feel shares the same spirit as our company”. Kennedy explained. “Personally, a family member of mine was given an incredible experience by the Starlight Foundation so I’ve seen the work they do and what a difference they can make in children’s lives. We are thrilled to support them.”

Kennedy says there has been a lot of support from the cast and orchestra for this event, and all will be performing under the musical direction of the exceptionally talented Michael Tyack.

“There’s been fabulous interest from the cast in getting involved in both group and solo acts. Our star, Verity Hunt-Ballard will be performing, as well as various members of the ensemble and our music department will also be featured with performances on cello and trumpet. We also have 4 Queenslanders so its nice for them to be performing on home turf as well”, she said.
