Sydney Dance Company’s pre-professional year

Sydney Dance Company are thrilled to announce the aspiring young Australian and New Zealand dancers selected to take part in the acclaimed Pre-Professional Year program.

Claudia Lawson, Fjord Review on PPY Revealed:

By offering students the chance to train in a company-like environment with access to world-class choreographers, Sydney Dance Company is laying the foundation for the next wave of Australian dance talent. It is an exciting initiative, and as a dance critic, these are names that I’ll now watch with interest.

Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year is one of Australia’s most prestigious dance training programs. The program encompasses the full scope of professional dance training while highlighting collaboration and empowerment through every aspect of the program. Now in its ninth year, the Pre-Professional Year enables invaluable insights into the life of a professional dancer while gaining a wider, well-informed perspective of the industry.

Pre-Professional Year Dancers complete a CUA51520 Diploma of Professional Dance (Elite Performance) in their first year of training which articulates into the second year cohort that offers a CUA60120 Advanced Diploma of Professional Dance (Elite Performance) delivered through an auspice partnership with Australian Teachers of Dancing (RTO #31624).

Sydney Dance Company’s Head of Training, Linda Gamblin:

I am constantly amazed at the brilliant minds of the young people who find their way into the course each year. Their capacity to absorb ideas and concepts from independent choreographers and Sydney Dance Company’s incredible artistic staff to facilitate the  maturation of their genuine nature.
