The inaugural Sydney Musical Theatre Cabaret Festival (SMTCF) enjoyed a strong opening weekend last week and festival organisers are thrilled with the enormous amount of positive feedback flowing in.
With performances from Tyran Parke, Shaun Rennie and Wayne Scott Kermond last weekend and more to come over the following fortnight, the SMTCF is a ‘passion project’ which aims to promote and strengthen the Musical Theatre community of Australia.
“The response in for the opening weekend has been overwhelming and because of this, we’re definitely going to do it again next year!” festival organiser Rowena Vilar told AussieTheatre.
“It’s been a learning process and of course there are things we need to iron out, but all in all this weekend was a success and we look forward to the coming weeks!”, she said.
Vilar told AussieTheatre that the 2013 SMTCF will be seeking funding to invest in greater marketing and promotional strategies.
“We’re in the process of applying for grants and sponsorships so it’s very exciting that we’ve received the support we needed to make this an annual event”, she said.
AussieTheatre is a proud supporter of the 2012 Sydney Musical Theatre Cabaret Festival which is currently taking place at the Sydney Dance Lounge, Pier 4/5 Hickson Rd, Walsh Bay.
