Spectacular new two-level entertainment precinct Spiegel Haus Melbourne to open

Spiegel Haus Melbourne – a spectacular new two-level entertainment precinct in the heart of the city with multiple performance venues and a rooftop bar and lounge – to premiere in October with five-star, champagne-soaked spectacle Blanc de Blanc Encore

Golden Square car park on Lonsdale Street and Chinatown’s iconic Celestial Avenue will be transformed into a landmark cultural destination this summer with a striking multi-level site hosting a bold program of performance, food and nightlife in collaboration with the City of Melbourne, leading arts and cultural festivals, and world class artists and companies.

With a total capacity of 1000 patrons, Spiegel Haus Melbourne includes a 380 capacity Belgian spiegeltent on the ground level – premiering with the internationally acclaimed Blanc de Blanc Encore for a three month season – plus a 400 seat black box theatre designed for theatre, comedy and live music, and an open-air activation space, perfect for outdoor performances, art installations and community gatherings.

The accompanying rooftop dome bar offers panoramic views of the city, craft beers from Bodriggy Brewing Co., and Lil Lucha, a vibrant food residency from the creators of Happy Mexican.

Lord Mayor Nick Reese :

Even in a night-life capital like Melbourne, Spiegel Haus adds a slice of something special. We’re looking forward to seeing a unique Spiegel-style entertainment precinct ripple through the CBD.

Kicking off the premiere season in the ground floor Spiegeltent from 29 October is Blanc de Blanc Encore, Strut & Fret’s intoxicating, signature blend of hedonism, humour and old-school cabaret decadence. Overflowing with vintage French glamour, high-octane circus, and edge-of-your-seat entertainment, it’s all served up with a riotous wink and a whole lot of fizz.

Spiegel Haus Creative Producer Christopher Mitchell :

Spiegel Haus is more than just another venue. Its distinctive mix of spaces creates a cultural playground unlike any other in Melbourne. The rooftop lobby bar in particular will be a destination in its own right – a place for sunset drinks, unexpected encounters and nights to remember under the stars.

See attached release for more details, with further shows and programming to be announced prior to Spiegel Haus Melbourne’s launch in October.
