The Sound Of Music

is sure to thrill all generations when Chatswood Musical Society brings this much loved family favourite to Sydney’s North Shore in April 2011.

This show is a must-see for families during the school holidays.

The romantic and courageous story of the von Trapp family and their loveable novice-nun nanny Maria is set against the rise of Nazism and the invasion of Austria ahead of WWII. Full of iconic moments in musical theatre history, the musical features eternal favourites like ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘So-long Farewell’, ‘Edelweiss’, ‘You are Sixteen’ and many more…

This production is directed by Anne Veitch, with Musical Director Gerard Plummer (no relation to Christopher Plummer in the movie!) and choreographed by Laurie Tancred, with design by Neil Shotter.

Kelly Phythian stars as Maria (the role made famous by Julie Andrews), Jeremy Curtin is Captain von Trapp, with Ashleigh Rubenach as Leisl, Jonathon Holmes as Rolf, Erin Hosking as the Baroness Elsa and Andrew Davis as Max. Tisha Keleman plays the Mother Abbess, while a talented young cast (many of them still school students) feature in the roles of the children, nuns and the varied ensemble of citizens and soldiers.

Don’t miss the fun and laughter, love and loss, thrills and escapes when The Sound of Music hits town next month…

The show plays at Pymble Ladies College in April. Details: 1300 66 22 12.
