Presented By: SONGBIRDS
Venue: Judith Wright Centre (Brisbane) If you are looking for something to do tonight then look no further, Songbirds III makes their annual return flight to the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, for one night only. The talented all girl cabaret act includes local emreging artists Alice Barbery, Kellie Ireland, Natalie Ridoutt, Rhiannon Moushall, Rebekah Godbold, and Alison McClennan. The Songbirds will be supported by pianists/vocal coaches, David Law and Matthew Samer, affectionately known as the Songboys. Performed in an intimate cabaret setting, the night wil be one of the most up close and personal musical theatre experience you will ever have. Creative Director Alison Mclennan says “We take the ‘over the top’ grandeur of Broadway musicals and strip it bare. We combine it with the intimate ‘in your face’ nature of cabaret and create something entirely new. Songbirds III features songs from well loved musicals like South Pacific, to the modern classics like Wicked, as well as the most current contemporary shows like The Addams Family, Legally Blonde, Little Women, Sister Act and Mary Poppins. Ms McLennan says the annual cabaret gives female Brisbane performers the chance to shine that they deserve. “There are so many gifted female singers in Brisbane, and never enough good roles to go around, so I created Songbirds as a platform to showcase their talent. “Also it’s really exciting to have the chance to perform songs from amazing new Broadway shows that won’t come to Australia for years, if at all”. Songbirds III will only be performing tonight (Saturday 10th December), at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Fortitude Valley.
