Sir David has been told by his cardiologist that he is in urgent need of a pacemaker and is due to undergo surgery today.

The sold-out tour, due to begin in Brisbane next week, was to follow Sir David’s hugely successful Australian dates in 2012.

Sir David says he was very much looking forward to visiting Australia and is deeply disappointed. He hopes to reschedule the tour in the near future when he recovers.

Ticket holders should visit www.alifeonearth.com.au for full refund information.

Sir David Attenborough is perhaps the world’s best known nature documentarian, with a career spanning six decades. His work at the BBC, including the iconic Life on Earth series has revolutionised nature documentaries and the way we look at the natural world in which we live. He was knighted in 1985 for his extraordinary achievements throughout his career.

Ticket holders and others wishing to catch Sir David Attenborough in person in the future can register at www.alifeonearth.com.au for advance notice of possible rescheduled tour information.
