Singin’ in the Rain confirmed for Sydney’s Lyric Theatre
The classic “splash-hit” Singin’ in the Rain musical will now open at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre in July 2016, with an all-Australian cast led, as previously reported, by Adam Garcia.
Produced in Australia by Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, David Atkins Enterprises, Michael Cassel Group and Dainty Group International, the musical (from London’s West End) features high-octane choreography, sumptuous sets and costumes and, with the help of 12,000 litres of recycled water, rain on stage.
The show, based on the popular film, received four Olivier Award nominations when it transferred to London’s Palace Theatre after an extended run at the Chichester Festival Theatre. It has spurred forth a UK tour, a New Zealand season, and an upcoming Asian tour, as well as the Australian production – which will visit Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.
Adam Garcia will star in the lead role of Don Lockwood, which brings him back to the Australian stage after a close to 20 year absence. Adam mostly recently appeared as a judge on Dancing with the Stars and in the UK as judge on Got to Dance. He starred in the original production of Hot Shoe Shuffle in Australia and the UK. Adam was also a founding member of the hugely successful tap group Tap Dogs with Dein Perry.
This is set to be an experience!
Tour dates have also been confirmed for Melbourne from May 2016, Brisbane from September 2016, Adelaide and Perth. Waitlist tickets are now available on the official website.
