Saltimbanco somersaults into Sydney from July 27

Saltimbanco, Cirque du Soleil’s longest running touring show, arrives in Sydney this week for a limited three week season.

Saltimbanco, Cirque du Soleil’s longest running touring show, arrives in Sydney this week for a limited three week season.   Saltimbanco, was the first Cirque du Soleil show to tour to down-under in 1999, and it began Australia’s love affair with the Quebec-based circus organisation which now has over 5000 employees world wide.  Playing at Acer Arena until 14 August, the classic show boasts an international cast of 51 performers and musicians, hailing from more than 20 different countries.  The term Saltimbanco is taken from the Italian “saltare in banco”, which literally means ‘to jump on a bench’, and the show features breathtaking acrobatics and unbelievable athleticism during solo spotlights and epic ensembles in an epic circus extravaganza. Set inside an imaginary metropolis of colourful inhabitants, Saltimbanco is a visual feast for the whole family to enjoy.
The Sydney season is part of a three month Australian tour, which concludes in Wollongong on August 21.
