Regional arts network receives vital funding boost

Regional Arts NSW is thrilled with the recent announcement of $3.4 million in funding from the NSW Government for the Regional Arts Network after campaigning for increased funding over many years.

Regional Arts Development Organisations (RADOs) across the state will now receive $200,000 per annum each for 2021/22. This is an increase from $168,000 in core operational funds in 2020/21.

The boost in core funding for RADOs has been a top priority for Regional Arts NSW, the peak body and support agency for arts and cultural development in regional NSW.

Regional Arts NSW Chair Julie Briggs welcomes the announcement of additional funding for the RADO network.

Ms. Briggs Says:

The RADO network is pivotal in supporting and facilitating outstanding arts and cultural outcomes for communities across regional NSW.  As the peak body for the arts and cultural sector in regional NSW, we have since 2014 consistently lobbied for RADO core funding to rise to $200,000 per annum.

The additional funding from the State, along with the strong financial and resourcing support that local government provides to the RADOs, will ensure that the Network is well placed for the arts-led tourism recovery that we are all aiming for once the State opens fully.

In the Create NSW announcement, Minister for the Arts Don Harwin Said:

The increased investment would help to stimulate employment and increase access to arts and culture for audiences in regional NSW.

On behalf of the Regional Arts NSW Board, Ms. Briggs congratulated the Minister on his decision stating,

The funding is recognition of the important role Regional Arts Development Organisations play in supporting people living and working in regional NSW to access, participate in and contribute to arts and culture.
