“The Cane opens a dialogue about our relationship to the past. In this time of shifting moral perspectives, which are testing foundational values, this play could not be more pertinent. Themes such as historical reparation, , patriarchy, coercive control and power dynamics relate directly to #MeToo, Cancel culture, Enough is Enough and educational philosophies. The Cane is a powerful, engaging play that will get you talking.” Kirsten von Bibra, Director.
The Cane is directed by Kirsten von Bibra (Grounded), and features Red Stitch ensemble members Jessica Clarke, Caroline Lee and Dion Mills, with lighting design by Bronwyn Pringle, set and costume design by Lara Week, and sound composition by Adam Casey.
Premiering on April 10 at Red Stitch’s Home on Chapel St, The Cane runs until May 9. Tickets are available at redstitch.net and range between $31-$57.
