In just over one hour, Australia’s newest musical theatre event will be launched in Melbourne. Cast and creatives from King Kong Live Onstage, presented by Global Creatures, will be at The Plaza Ballroom at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from 1pm to give Melbourne audiences a taste of this brand new, multi million dollar production.
Accompanied by a full orchestra, cast members will perform music from the show and the event will be streamed LIVE via the musical’s website
It is understood that the show will commence rehearsals at the Regent Theatre with the seven-metre anamatronic creature (Kong) from February 2013 ahead of an opening in June. The show will only be playing at the Regent in Australia, due to the sheer size of the show, although later plans to tour the work overseas are in action.
It has been speculated over the last 12 months that a cast of 40 actors, singers, dancers and puppeteers will work on this production which is do be directed by Daniel Kramer and choreographed by John O’Connell, with an original score by Marius de Vries.
