Queensland Theatre hits the road on regional Queensland tour

Over the past two months (yep, during lockdown) 86 schools across Queensland have taken part in the 8-week digital unit, called The Scene Project, with Queensland Theatre.

That’s over 1000 students and includes schools from Brisbane, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Stanthorpe, Warwick, Ayr, Bundaberg, Charters Towers, Gladstone, Gympie, Mackay, Rockhampton, Mt Isa, Townsville, Whitsundays and Innisfail.

The 2020 program features David Burton’s work, Wisdom, an incredible piece of writing, and included weekly topics, a recorded rehearsed live read with actors from QT’s Young Artist Ensemble alumni, video workshops, learning activities and sample assessment tasks.  The video workshops are using some of the best actors, directors, writers and teaching artists across Australia including David Burton, Merlynn Tong, Steve Pirie, Zachary Boulton, Ellen Bailey, Jackson McGovern, Travis Dowling, Brady Watkins and Ben Hughes.

The resulting Scene Project tour is happening now across Queensland.

The cast includes Ellen Bailey, Jackson McGovern, Elyse Phelan, Abdul Salman, with stage manager Natalie Callaghan. The Scene Project Managers Travis Dowling and Emma Funnell are hosting, with Director Michelle Miall.
