Tonight will mark Marina Priors final performance as Mrs Winifred Banks. Regarded by many as Australia’s quintessential leading lady, Prior has been with the show since it first opened in Melbourne in July 2010. The role earned her a 2011 Helpmann nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical.
Coming into the role to replace Prior is Pippa Grandison, most recently known in music theatre circles for playing Elphaba in Wicked in 2010.
We are expecting some more cast change announcements before the opening of the Brisbane season in late December. Philip Quast, currently playing Mr Banks, has already announced that he is leaving the show to star in the Australian premiere of Yes, Prime Minister, which opens in Melbourne on January 31.
