Oz Opera are heading away from the posh theatre for a four-month tour of Victorian primary schools.
Oz Opera is the touring arm of Opera Australia and aims to bring great opera to all Australians.
Their 50-minute adaption The Barber of Seville has been created for primary schools and is touring Melbourne and regional Victoria, including Mildura, Yarrawonga, Wonthaggi and Hamilton. Giving more than 150 performances at over 100 primary schools, it’ll be seen by around 25,000 children.
With its madcap antics of love‐at‐first‐sight, secret letters and cunning disguises, Rossini’s opera is a perfect introduction to opera for young audiences.
The tour was launched on Friday 17 May at the Melbourne Opera Centre, with 100 kids watching a performance and asking questions.
