Auditions for A Chorus Line will take place in September this year for the brand new production produced by Tim Lawson and TML Enterprises.
The Australian production will be directed and choreographed by Baayork Lee with Peter Casey coming on board as Musical Supervisor.
AussieTheatre.com understands that Producer Tim Lawson has finished negotiations for the production, with more announcements to be made soon.
“I am thrilled to be involved with A Chorus Line, and introducing it to a new generation!”, Lawson told AussieTheatre.com today.
TML recently co-produced the Jekyll and Hyde Korea tour, starring Lucy Maunder and Belinda Wollaston in 2010 and also produced Topol in Fiddler on the Roof. Both productions were musically directed by Peter Casey.
It is understood that the rehearsal period for A Chorus Line will begin very late in November, and that the preliminary opening performance date will be New Year’s Eve in Adelaide.
Opening on New Year’s Eve is not uncommon, with CATS opening on the same night at the Adelaide Festival Centre back in 2009.
The seasons are set to be short and sweet: Adelaide is scheduled to conclude at the end of January ahead of a Melbourne opening in early March 2012. No Sydney, Brisbane or Perth seasons have been confirmed at this time.
Auditions for the show will take place in Melbourne from 6 September 2011 and in Sydney from 9 September 2011.
More information to come.
