Theatre producing machine John Frost announced on Friday that his new production of Dirty Dancing will be heading to Perth for a limited season at the Crown Theatre in August 2015.
The show, which has returned to Australia ten years after its world premiere in Sydney, is currently in previews at Sydney’s Lyric. After the Sydney season it will head to the Princess Theatre in Melbourne, QPAC in Brisbane, and finally to Perth, which has been getting more attention from musical theatre tours in the last couple of years.
Starring Kurt Phelan as Johnny Castle and Kirby Burgess as Baby, these two ensemble actors have made the transition into leading roles to tell the story of the iconic 1987 film.
“I’m thrilled to bring this wonderful new production of Dirty Dancing to Perth,” Frost said.
“The stage musical gave audiences the chance to hear the songs from the hit film performed live and to experience the breathtaking dance routines. People flocked to it, breaking records all around the world.
“Now, ten years after the World Premiere in Sydney, it returns home to Australia where the magic began with a sensational new cast, and audiences can again have the Time Of Their Lives.”
The just announced Perth season will begin on August 2, 2015. Tickets for the Perth season of Dirty Dancing will go on sale in early 2015, but fans can waitlist for priority bookings now at dirtydancingaustralia.com.
