NIDA joins the theatre community in celebrating the return of live performance, in a packed program for the End of Year Production Season 2021.
Beginning on 13 November and extending into December, four NIDA theatres will present stunningm performances, breath-taking design and excellence in diverse storytelling.
The season brings to the stage the world premiere of God’s Country, a NIDA-commissioned piece by First Nations writer Nathan Maynard; a unique co-production between NIDA and the Conservatorium of Music with A Midsummer Night’s Dream; a comedic post-apocalyptic Mr Burns, a post-electric play; and a collage of story in Love and Information by renowned British writer Caryl Churchill.
NIDA, CEO, Liz Hughes:
The entire NIDA community is excited to welcome the return of live theatre to our campus. While operating under safe COVID conditions for all our audiences, artists and creatives, we welcome the opportunity to showcase the extraordinary talent of all our students. NIDA students have shown incredible resilience and commitment over the last few months and it will be terrific to see their work come to life working alongside leading Australian directors, designers and writers. After all the hard work that has been taking place during Sydney’s lockdown, this is a season we have all been waiting for.
NIDA, Artistic Director, David Berthold:
These four NIDA productions tell stories of worlds in flux. We invite the audiences to journey into a magical forest, a world without electricity, God’s own country and a theatrical kaleidoscope through opera, myth, comedy and invention. This is a season of colliding forces stories that dissolve the past to reveal the future.
This season is supported by the Nick Enright AM Estate.
