BREAKING NEWS – AUSSIETHEATRE.COM EXCLUSIVE

AussieTheatre.com can confirm that Next To Normal, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical will be making its Sydney Premiere in 2012.

Presented by Newline Productions, (Tick, Tick…Boom!, 2011), the Sydney production will mark the second ever staging of Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt’s groundbreaking musical in Australia.

Set to open mid-year with auditions commencing in early 2012, Next To Normal will be directed by award winning Australian director and actor Tyran Parke (pictured) and will not be a copy of the 2011 MTC production.

Next to Normal is compelling story of a mother’s trauma induced depression, anxiety and delusion. It took Tom Kitt (Music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics) almost a decade to create this work with extensive research, workshops, and rewrites.

The 2009 Broadway production of Next to Normal won Tony Awards (including Best Score) and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

AussieTheatre.com will have more updates on this exciting new production in the coming weeks.
