New Australian play set for exclusive Sydney season

Glen Street Theatre is set to bring The Flood to Sydney for an exclusive season from September 4 – 15.

Written by Patrick White Award winning playwright Jackie Smith, The Flood explores the murky depths of family intrigue. This is an unforgettable cliff-hanger set on a dilapidated sheep farm, set against an eerie Australian landscape.

The farm house shelters a mad old lady and her isolated, hard-drinking daughter. As the sun sets, the flood waters rise and Catherine has returned after a 20 year absence. Through the mesmerising friction between estranged sisters, fuelled by alcohol and uncertain memories of a father now long-dead, these three women are trapped with a past that no one wants to remember.

Full of dark humor and skilled performances by fine Australian actresses (Shirley Cattunar, Maude Davey, Caroline Lee), The Flood is part mystery and part psychological thriller. It will keep audiences captivated through every twist and turn until the final gripping moment.

The fifteen year collaboration between Moira Finucane and Jackie Smith has resulted in winning 10 out of 16 nominations for Australian theatre awards. The house of Finucane & Smith is internationally renowned for works that are a mix of entertainment and provocation.
