Neglected Musicals announce Calamity Jane cast

Neglected Musicals presents musical theatre that has never or rarely been seen in Australia and their next offering will be Calamity Jane at Hayes Theatre Co in August with star of stage and screen Virginia Gay in the titular role.

The full cast has now been confirmed with Hilary Cole as Katie Brown, Sheridan Harbridge as Adelaide Adams, Tamlyn Henderson as Wild Bill Hickok, Sam Moran as Lieutenant Dan, Rob Johnson as Francis Fryer and Laurence Coy as Henry Miller. Michael Hart, Lachlan Martin and Romy Watson round out the cast, who will come together to stage this classic musical with scripts in hand, and piano accompaniment after only a day’s rehearsal.

Adapted from the celebrated stage-play and 1953 Doris Day film, this musical Western premiered in Fort Worth, Texas on 27 May, 1961. Despite best laid plans over the last 55 years, Calamity Jane has never made it to Broadway stages and is a rarely performed work in the professional realm. 

Directed by Richard Carroll, musically directed by Nigel Ubrihien and choreographed by Cameron Mitchell, Calamity Jane will play 7 performances from 3 August – 7 August 2016.
