Originally scheduled to premiere in Sydney this month as part of the Seymour Centre’s Reginald Theatre season, the producers have withdrawn the production from the schedule citing unforeseen personal reasons.
Tim Jones, Artistic Director of the Seymour Centre said lamented this unfortunate occurrence, but stressed it was was not related to ticket sales.
“The Reginald Season is built on collaborations with small arts companies in order to assist them to gain experience and build their repertoire”, he said.
“Unfortunately in some circumstances and despite best intentions, emerging companies facing the challenge of delivering a substantial production with limited resources are unable to do so when unforeseen circumstances arise. The cancellation of Myths and Hymns was not determined by advance ticket sales.”
All hope is not lost for the cast and creatives (and Sydney audiences) as Jones is hopeful the show will reach the stage in the 2013 Seymour Centre Reginald Theatre season.
“We sincerely hope that we are able to present this innovative music theatre work, with a terrific cast and creative team to Sydney audiences in 2013”, he added.
Myths and Hymns was set to star Octavia Barron-Martin (Fiddler On The Roof, The Hatpin), Jeremy Brennan (Jersey Boys, Altar Boyz), Keane Fletcher (10 Tenors, Altar Boyz), Roshani Priddis (Australian Idol finalist, Women of Soul), Daniel Belle (Australian Idol finalist), and Nicole Shostak (graduate of Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) and was to be directed by Kate Gaul.
