Muriel’s Wedding the Musical is coming to Melbourne

Producer Global Creatures announced last night that Muriel’s Wedding the Musical will head to Melbourne for a limited season at Her Majesty’s Theatre from March 2019. The production will then return to Sydney for their previously announced season at the Lyric Theatre beginning June 2019.

The world premiere season (co-produced by Sydney Theatre Company) opened in Sydney in 2017 and received five Helpmann Awards including Best Original Score (Kate Miller-Heidke and Keir Nuttall), Best Music Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Sound Design and Best Choreography. The production also released an Original Cast Recording.

Casting for the new tour has not yet been confirmed, with auditions currently underway in Melbourne and Sydney. It is believed that a number of the previous cast will return to their roles, however we will have a new Muriel with the previous announcement that Maggie McKenna will be joining an American tour of Dear Evan Hansen.
