Million Dollar Quartet cancels Australian Tour
The recently announced Australian production of Tony award winning musical Million Dollar Quartet have cancelled their scheduled tour, with tickets being removed from Ticketmaster in the last 24 hours. The cancellation comes just one month after the show was officially announced by producers Lunchbox Theatrical Productions and TEG DAINTY in association with Mark Goucher and Simon Friend.
The production, which is inspired by the true story of the famous 1956 recording session which brought together icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time, was due to open at the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne on December 8, 2016 before heading to Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth.
It is understood that the lead cast had received initial contract offers and were in the process of negotiations.
There has been no official announcement on the Million Dollar Quartet website as yet.
This is the second major musical cancellation in as many weeks with We Will Rock You recently cancelling the final two cities (Adelaide and Perth) of their Australian tour.
