Mazda Opera in the Domain returns to showcase Australia’s finest opera singers

Opera Australia returns to the Domain in Sydney’s CBD to present their much-loved annual summer tradition Mazda Opera in the Domain on Saturday 18 January. A favourite on the Sydney event calendar, the free concert attracts over 15,000 people each year for a night of the greatest opera music performed under the stars.
Hosted by former ABC presenter Christopher Lawrence, this popular event showcases the world’s most recognisable arias and is perfect for seasoned opera-goers and newcomers alike. Guests can BYO alcohol and food and relax with friends and family on picnic rugs for a truly memorable evening.
This free event also features pre-entertainment activities including food and beverage pop-up stalls and Mazda’s Garden Bar, creating a perfect summer festival atmosphere under a starry night sky.
Performing under the baton of acclaimed maestro Brian Castles-Onion and backed by the award-winning Opera Australia Orchestra are five of Opera Australia’s powerhouse singers.
The extraordinary soprano Stacey Alleaume returns to the Domain stage after her celebrated role debut as Susannah in The Marriage of Figaro. Sydney favourite, prolific mezzo-soprano Anna Dowsley, features alongside acclaimed soprano Natalie Aroyan who will take the leading role in Atilla in March. Baritone José Carbó who performed in this year’s stunning production of Madama Butterfly will also join the performance alongside Korean tenor Simon Kim.
