Matthew Lee Robinson brings New Voices workshops to Sydney, Melbourne

Helpmann-nominated composer/lyricist and Churchill Fellowship winner Matthew Lee Robinson returns to Australia next month for New Voices, an exclusive workshop series.

Matthew Lee Robinson

Currently, New Voices is Australia’s only musical theatre workshop and showcase series in which participants work on material with the composer who created it.

Each participant will personally be assigned a song from Robinson’s catalogue of award-winning musicals. Participants will then receive a private coaching session, participate in a two-day group workshop and feature in an exclusive showcase concert.

When asked who should apply to be part of New Voices, Robinson replied “In the past four capital cities, the selected artists have ranged from people looking to audition for the major university courses, to current university students, to recent graduates and performers in their 50s and beyond. It’s a real mix and melting pot, but the one common denominator is performers who are searching for access to current material that speaks to them, who want to work one on one with the composer who wrote it and who are looking for a chance to ‘play’ in a safe environment. The showcase at the end is the cherry on top for all of us. The reception is always beyond supportive.”

Applications close today, Monday June 8, for the Melbourne and Wednesday June 10 for Sydney, with the workshops themselves being held on 1st – 4th July in Sydney and from 8th – 11th July in Melbourne.

Applications are available at Matthewleerobinson.com/new-voices and positions are filling up fast.
