Its official! Australia’s original Mary Poppins, Verity Hunt-Ballard will be poppin’ in to the 2012 Friends of the Arts Centre Gold Coast Youth Arts Academy’s Musical Theatre Summer Residency.
The twelve day professional development program aims to create an understanding and appreciation of the art form which is musical theatre. It seeks to encourage young talented people aged 15 to 21 to explore, develop and enhance their singing, dancing and acting skills and to foster the integration of those skills to become a ‘triple threat’ music theatre performer.
Presented by some of this country’s leading industry educators and practitioners, including Verity Hunt-Ballard, Avigail Herman (NIDA Singer Dancer Actor course creator), Katie Kermond and Bev Kennedy, participants will gain invaluable insight about the professional performing arts industry.
The program will cater for a maximum of 60 participants and will focus on skills-based learning in all the areas of performance and will be tailored specifically to the age group.
Through the generous contribution of supporters and sponsors, a limited number of full and/or partial grants will be available for students who would be unable to participate without a level of financial support. Grant applications are online and ready to download today! Register online today before applications close on Friday 2 December and spend your hot summer days at the coolest workshop in the country!
