Marika Aubrey wraps up feature series How We Do What We Do after 2 years
AussieTheatre and Marika Aubrey will be wrapping up the hugely popular feature interview series How We Do What We Do this month after a very successful two years in print.
Founded by Aubrey and AussieTheatre in January 2013, the interview series has made AussieTheatre history as the most popular regular column to appear on the website.
With over 20,000 readers over the last two years, Aubrey’s in depth and insightful interviews have captured the minds of the Australian and international theatre going public. Her extensive list of guests for the series include Australian film star Yvonne Strahovski, heart throb Rob Mills, the busiest man in showbiz Mitchell Butel, pocket rocket Harriet Dyer and four time Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune, to name a few.
Inspired by a series penned by Sacha Horler in Film Ink magazine (to which Aubrey subscribed as a teenager), the How We Do What We Do Series was born out of Aubrey’s desire to read more in depth, real conversations with working artists in our theatre media.
In the final How We Do What We Do piece, set for publication this week, Marika takes time to shed some light on her experiences over the past 24 months and thank all her guests for the series.
“I just want to say here publicly – thank you to all the artists – particularly the ones who didn’t know me. They said yes to this stranger, and met me and spilled their guts. So thank you”, she says.
AussieTheatre’s Editor Erin James praised Aubrey for her tenacity and drive in the execution of this series.
“How We Do What We Do has become something of an institution on AussieTheatre over the last two years and we are honoured to have had Marika as such an integral part of our team during this time”, Erin said this morning.
“Her selection of guests was nothing short of genius, her research impeccable and her ability to create interesting and innovative content has to be applauded. I hope the pearls of wisdom found in these interviews inspire the next wave of theatre makers in Australia to pursue their dreams and that readers continue to discover the 23 wonderful interviews in the series featured on AussieTheatre.com.”
