Marika set out to make the move to New York several years ago, with her husband, actor and photographer, Kurt Sneddon and their fur child Maverick the Wonder Dog. However, fate had other ideas, and just as she began to get settled in her new home city she learned she had been cast as Mrs Wormwood in the Australian tour of Matilda,

It was an opportunity not to be missed with Matilda becoming one of the most successful touring musicals in recent Australian history. Marika appeared in the role for the entire 2 year, 5 city tour, but returned to the U.S. whenever she had the opportunity to continue to build her professional and personal life over there. She returned to the U.S. to live full time time when Matilda finally ended its run in July 2017.

“It’s been a pretty awesome ride auditioning my butt off here in NYC these past few months. Very positive and fun to be getting in the rooms where it happens” said Aubrey.

Now after a four year (slightly detoured) journey Marika has been cast in her first major U.S. musical, Come From Away. The true and uplifting story of a small town in Newfoundland that became a makeshift home to 7,000 stranded passengers, from all over the world, whose planes were grounded when American airspace was closed in the immediate wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

For the first time in her career Marika will be working as a swing. ”I’m standby Bev, Diane, Hannah and Janice. I’ve never done this kind of work before and scared stiff but looking to the icons of this skill – Erin Edwards and Justine Puy – for my inspiration”.

The touring production of Come From Away will begin performances in Seattle in October 2018 and head to 27 American cities over the following 11 months.

“I Love that my first project here will be to tell a true story about people from different places and backgrounds coming together and making something positive out of tragic circumstances. And lovely to see a whole lot more of my new adopted country along the way! And yes, the answer to the question on everyone’s lips – Maverick the wonder dog will be going on tour with us”.

A separate production of Come From Away has also been announced for Australia in 2019. For more information and details about the Australian production visit: Comefromaway.com.au
