Love Never Dies: The Hunt for Sydney Gustaves

The smash hit musical Love Never Dies will be transferring to Sydney’s Capitol Theatre in January 2012, and the creative team are on the hunt for new Gustaves! 

 Could your child be the next star of Love Never Dies? 
The smash hit musical Love Never Dies will close in Melbourne on 18 December 2011 before transferring to Sydney’s Capitol Theatre in January 2012, and the creative team are on the hunt for new Gustaves!  Sydney-based boys between the ages of 10 and 12 are being sought to audition for the role of Gustave – Christine Daeé’s son.  On the Love Never Dies website, the audition notes specify that the boys should be of small stature, have a strong, treble “boyish” voice which reaches a top F sharp in classical style. The boys must also have good performance instincts and a very keen sense of pitch. Rehearsals for the Sydney Gustaves will commence in November in Melbourne, so successful applicants must be available from mid-November to mid-December to learn the role. They also must be available for Sydney rehearsals and the season which commences in early January 2012.  Love Never Dies also requires child supernumeraries to appear in some scenes of the show. Currently, there are four teams of 5 supernumeraries who rotate performances each week. The creative team require a mix of boys and girls aged 7-10 who are under 135cm in height. No specific skills are required, but basic action and stage directions will need to be followed. Children will be required to commence rehearsals in Sydney early January and be available for the season to follow.
If you know a child who would be suited to the role of GUSTAVE or would love a chance to perform onstage as a supernumerary, have a parent or guardian send in resumes and photos (headshots and full length) to Love Never Dies.  All information should be emailed to info@loveneverdies.com.au prior to Monday 5th of September.  The resume should contain:

• child’s name
• date of birth
• height
• suburb of residence
• the parent’s names and contact details.

 There are currently five young boys sharing the role of Gustave in the Melbourne production: Trent Heath (pictured with Ben Lewis), George Cartwright Bush, Lachlan Kelly, Jack Lyall, and Kurtis Papadinis.
