While the official release date for the much anticipated Australian cast DVD of Love Never Dies was set for tomorrow (February 8, 2012), the product was on shelves at Blockbuster Video as early as yesterday (pictured).
AussieTheatre.com understands that the DVD was also for sale at JB HIFI yesterday, 2 days ahead of the official release date announced by Producer Tim McFarlane recently.
“8th February – tell your friends!”, McFarlane quipped at a special advance screening for the cast, crew and selected media.
Starring Anna O’Byrne and Ben Lewis as Christine and Phantom, the filmed version of Simon Phillips (director) and Gabriella Tylesova’s (designer) re-imagined Love Never Dies will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray and will also be released at selected cinemas world-wide.
Several advance screenings have already taken place in London, New York and Sydney, and critics have been kind to what has been described as “certainly the best film of a stage musical I’ve seen” by Michael Coveney, Cheif critic of the blog whatsonstage.com.
Filmed at the Regent Theatre Melbourne in September last year, the DVD features:
Anna O’Byrne, Ben Lewis, Sharon Millerchip, Simon Gleeson, Maria Mercedes, Emma J. Hawkins, Dean Vince, Paul Tabone, Jack Lyall, Andrew Broadbent, Renee Burleigh, Colin Dean, Andrew Dunne, Giordano Gangl, Stephanie Grigg, Erin Hasan, Matt Holly, Ben Hudson, Erin James, Adele Johnston, Claire Lyon, Kristy Mackenzie, Matthew McFarlane, Jessica Mechielsen, Meredith O’Reilly, Adam Rennie, Lisa Reynolds, Pharic Scott, Kathryn Sgroi, Ellen Simpson, Tod Strike, Brendan Yeates
