The Lion King opens in Melbourne → photo feature

After playing to packed crowds at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre and Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre QPAC, Disney’s The Lion King has made its way back to Melbourne and is now playing at the stunning Regent Theatre on Collins Street for a limited season.

The Australian production, directed by Julie Taymor, is the 10th production of The Lion King running concurrently around the world, with shows on Broadway and on tour across North America, Tokyo and on tour in Japan, in London’s West End and on tour throughout the UK, and in Hamburg, Madrid and Sao Paolo.

Starring Nick Afoa as Simba and Josslynn Hlenti as Nala (from South Auckland, New Zealand and Durban, South Africa respectively), this multicultural cast also includes Rob Collins (Darwin) as Mufasa, Josh Quong Tart (Sydney) as Scar and features representatives from Zimbabwe, China, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Brazil and the United States.
