The smash hit musical Jersey Boys will return to Australia next year, it has been confirmed this morning, and auditions for the production will be held in July and early August this year to find Australia’s next Four Seasons.
Producer Rodney Rigby and NSW Minister for Tourism Adam Marshall have announced that the blockbuster tuner, which is currently the 12th longest running musical on Broadway, will return to the harbour city from August 2018, making a new home at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.
After a critically and commercially acclaimed season in Melbourne which opened in July 2009, Jersey Boys played Sydney’s Theatre Royal for 15 months, making it one of the longest running musicals in Sydney’s history. The show enjoyed a return Melbourne season in 2013 and also played Brisbane, Adelaide and Auckland during its four-year tour circuit.
“Jersey Boys is one of the most successful shows in theatre history and as Australia’s home of musical theatre, it’s fitting that Sydney will host the return season of this acclaimed production,” Minister for Tourism, Mr Marshall said.
“We expect Jersey Boys to make a triumphant return to Sydney with more than 32,000 overnight visitors expected to travel to the Harbour City to see the production, delivering $21.7 million in visitor expenditure for NSW.”
Jersey Boys tells the true-life story of the rise to stardom of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, who were one of the most successful bands in pop music history. The band sold more than 175 million records and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for their worldwide hits, including Can’t Take My Eyes off You, Walk Like a Man, Bye Bye Baby, Sherry and Big Girls Don’t Cry, which all feature in the musical.
Rodney Rigby, Paul Dainty and Dodger Theatricals will produce the musical. No other cities have been announced for this return production, nor has an end date been set for the Capitol season.

Can't wait for Jersey Boys to return to Sydney. Saw it 10 times last season and will be first in line for the next season. The best live show I have ever attended.
